The Gospels – The Gospel According to John

The Love of God and the giving of His Son

John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Here Jesus confirmed that He had not come to judge the world. He had not brought the Judgment and as we have seen with His Words the Judgment is reserved for another that He has referred to as the Son of Man. He has come to bring the Word of God so that all those who accept It might be saved. Those who believed in Jesus and seek to adjust their lives to the Word that He represents will be saved from Judgment and be given life everlasting. Those who do not believe in Jesus will not be given a second opportunity to reconsider and these when the Son of Man comes will face Judgment and destruction. The word “Condemn” here should be taken to mean judge. Jesus only came to save the world. This He came to do through His Word.

The love that God has for the world is so overwhelming that He would sent His Son to prevent the destruction of unworthy human beings. That is the sacrifice and the Love that we should ever be grateful for and the only way to show our gratitude is by adjusting ourselves to His Word as He demanded.
